Enjoyed a jaffa slice for dessert after our lunch in Te Aroha; then we walked a little in the Karangahake gorge.
Local food of the week: Maynards wine gums; for sale on the train and at the movies, along with the Tip Top ice cream. Weather here has been lousy, but actually got worse with the current gusts. Ever hear of the equinox winds? People here are still as nice, friendly, and laid back as ever.
We all had a great trek up Mount Maunganui - very steep. Looking for shells on the beach. Marta and Rich collected many beautiful shells on the beach. The Coromandel roads were winding, twisting, and caused some nausea. I was hoping Marta could have hit pay dirt when panning for gold. I will miss the I -Sites. Much info was received in each town. The local restaurants were great. I will miss the cup of flat white, but not the $ 4.50 per cup. I liked the "lollies". Marta and I met 3 All Black players at the Te Papa - Keven Mealamu was very nice. All 3 players wanted to talk about the Dallas Cowboys and Tony Romo. The rugby players like our American football.
